Tanned by Charles F. Stead in England, Bronze Rough Suede features a nappy finish, creating a rough and natural texture in a rich leather. This comfortable and chunky casual leather will have a wide range of nappiness to the suede. Due to the highly exaggerated and irregular nap of leather, variation should be expected. No two pairs will be the same.
The Garrison boot is our rendition of the classic service boot. Developing out of WWI's trench warfare, the service boot's history has been one of defense. Named after the military fortification and the guards charged with its protection, the Garrison boot conjures up imagery of security, safety, and refuge. Moreover, the name itself ultimately derives from the Germanic word meaning 'to ward off.' The Garrison boot is just that – stable, unyielding protection for your feet.
Featuring a perforated cap toe and backstay that hugs the heel counter, the Garrison boot is our first all-eyelet boot. Further drawing on its military history, we paired the Garrison boot with a lug outsole to offer more robust traction. Combining these elements produces a stylish yet utilitarian boot.

"I typically don't venture out from my go to brands for boots. I won’t mention them out of respect for this beautiful boot I’m wearing now. I’ve been watching Grant Stone now for a while. When I saw these beauties I had to pull the trigger. The Garrison Boot Bronze Rough Out is my new favorite boot. I down sized a 1/2 size down and the fit perfect. "I love the rough out suede and color of these boots. I went a half size down. They are a good fit. My only gripe is their version of the commander sole is hard to break in, if they will ever break in. I have a few painful areas in my left fore foot. I may have to add an insole for comfort."

"This boot has all the usual high-quality elements of Grant Stone: leather insole, Goodyear welts, solid lug insole. The suede has a great nap and good handfeel. One drawback of this item for me was that the tongue is not lined with "kip leather" like the rest of the boot. This was not noted on the website description, and I was surprised b/c my other boots from Grant Stone do feature a lined tongue. Basically, your sock touches directly on thin suede. The lack of a leather lining means your sock catches on the suede when putting the foot into the book. The thin suede is insufficient to prevent the laces from cinching / pinching the top of the foot. The other drawback was the color. The pictures are accurate, but I just didn't quite realize how "yellow" these would seem rather than tan. The color palette resembles Timberland construction boots rather than Clark's desert suede. I got these on sale, so an extremely high quality construction with a few design/cosmetic flaws."
